The Girl Child Entrepreneurship Program
Overview
The Girl Child Entrepreneurship Program is a program born out of the series of negations meted out on the girl child in most African communities (usually rural and underserved). These negations arise because the girl child is dependent and deprived of getting educated and learning a trade because the girl child is regarded as a second-class citizen.
The Girl Child Entrepreneurship Program believes the right to be educated and to learn a trade should not be an exclusive privilege. The minds behind this program firmly hold that every girl child should be acquainted with the requisite knowledge that brings about the power to make a living, get an education, and become a voice to drive societies into that which appreciates the girl child and accords due rights.

Mission
Our Mission is to provide entrepreneurship skills to the girl child within the ages of 9-15 years in rural and underserved communities in Africa, provide continual mentoring in nurturing skills learned, and by way of extension inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship as an extra-curricular activity for the girl child in schools (School-based entrepreneurship).

Vision
Our Vision is to help the girl child between the ages of 9-15 years in rural and underserved communities in Africa develop entrepreneur skills and exposure by set training and programs, in training centers and schools, to eventually build confidence and self-reliance in making a living and getting educated. This will also help in deciding career path achieving set goals.
Significance of the project

Fundamentally, this is a human rights issue. Discrimination has no place in the 21st century, and every girl child has the right to get educated whether formally or informally, and fully participate in her community.
Female Empowerment
Empowerment of the girl child protects her from abuses and attacks, as she is independent in making her own living.
Healthier Families
When girls are educated and empowered, families are healthier. According to UNESCO, 2.1 million children under age 5 were saved between 1990 and 2009 because of improvements in girls’ education.
Improve Well-being
Covid-19 is having a negative impact on girls’ health and wellbeing – and many are at risk of not returning to school once they fully reopen. This program gives these girls the opportunity of developing themselves amidst these crises.
Objectives of the Program

The primary objective of this program is to see that the girl child in rural and underserved African communities gain entrepreneurship education and abilities so as to become sustainably independent in achieving set dreams.
After-training Mentorship and Networking
The primary objective of this program is to see that the girl child in rural and underserved African communities gain entrepreneurship education and abilities so as to become sustainably independent in achieving set dreams.
Achievements Thus Far
The Girl Child Entrepreneurship Program launched its first Skills Acquisition and Training Program. Participants were trained on the making of fascinators, handbags, and sandals. To read in detail please click here.
